KUER is “My Source” for…

Public broadcasters are engaged in a national conversation about how people use public radio and TV. NPR and PBS will unveil the “My Source” campaign this year, featuring testimonials from authors, actors, musicians and newsmakers who rely on public broadcasting. Is KUER your source for plugging in to the news and information that keeps you active in your community? Stay tuned to KUER this summer and fall as we solicit your comments about public radio with the “My Source” campaign. Here are some comments we received at kuer.org during our fund drive:

This is my Dad's contribution. He is 89 and legally blind and has trouble reading the newspapers as much as he used to. We finally got him to try KUER and it is a lifeline to him. He listens to the news programs off and on during the day but particularly enjoys Diane Rehm. We'll discuss things we've both heard or he'll share with me what he has heard while I've been at work.
-Listener from Provo, Utah

Moved recently to Utah. Love all the usual programs and have especially enjoyed Doug and RadioWest's intimate looks at important local and national issues. My 10 year old son looks forward to listening to the geo-quiz on the drive home from school - - even though we hardly ever know the answer! Thanks for all the great programming.
–Listener from Springville, Utah

KUER is my source for awesome conversation with my Mom and little sister. We are both in our twenties now, and finally understand why Mom demanded to listen to it in the car despite our rolling teenaged eyes.
–Listener from Salt Lake City

KUER is my source for unbiased and objective news...a rarity in today's world! I also depend on KUER for unique, thought-provoking stories and information that often leads to a great dinner conversation, a book to check out from the library, or a new website to explore. Thank you for continually expanding my horizons!
-Listener from Ogden, Utah

KUER is my source for the information behind the headlines. In a time of 30 second sound bits, it is important to fill out the story. Thank you KUER.
-Listener from Malad City, ID

A Note to Our HD Friends

KUER’s HD signal has been off the air for the last two weeks. We apologize for the inconvenience. In order to fix the problem, we have to visit our transmitter site on Mount Vision, but recent snowstorms have made this trek impossible. KUER’s 35 translators are located on similar mountain tops throughout the state. Utah’s mountainous geography and shifting weather patterns make transmitter and translator upkeep a challenge – but a challenge we embrace in order to bring you the programs you love! Thanks for your patience while we work on this technical glitch.

The Evolution of Video Game Music

CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62), quality = 90 In May 2004, a composer named Nobuo Uematsu joined the Los Angeles Philharmonic for a single performance of his most famous work. The show sold out in three days. In fact, there was almost a riot at the box office when people couldn't get tickets. What was the music? Uematsu's soundtrack for the popular video game Final Fantasy. Click here to listen to a piece featured on NPR’s “Weekend All Things Considered” about the evolution of video game music.
