ADULT PLAYERS GET WITH IT ! ! !

Accept the “CHALLENGE” - The Utah Tennis  “Adult Tournament­ Point Challenge”.  Accumulate points throughout­ the 2007 Adult Tournament Season by entering and playing in eight (8) selected USTA/UTAH sanctioned adult NTRP tournaments­ in 2007. The top four (4) individuals­ with the highest point totals in each NTRP division­, singles and doubles, Men and Women, will be invited­ to participate in the season ending “Grand Slam” Invitational scheduled for December 3-8, 2007. Participants will each receive a T-shirt and certificate of participation. Division winners will be entered into a drawing for major gifts and prizes. The drawing will be held at the Utah Tennis Association Annual Meeting in January of 2008.

The top (4) four point getters in each NTRP division, Singles and Doubles will be eligible to participate. A doubles player who is in the top four and has played with more than one partner­ may choose the partner he/she wishes to play with provided they have played together­ as a doubles team, and the partner chosen had played in at least (1) one designated Adult Point Challenge tournament. If one or more of the four top point getter is unable to participate­ the next eligible player(s) will be invited until the four spots in the draw are filled. All players must have a current USTA membership in order to participate in the Grand Slam Invitational.

Tournament Format:
Participants in each division will play in a regular
 draw, with a 1st match consolatin/playoff for 3rd and 4th place. Seeds for singles will be based on the player's total points. Seeds for doubles will be based on the combined total points of a doubles team.

Matches will be the best of 3 sets, No-Ad scoring, 12 pt tiebreak at 6 games all. Balls will be furnished for all scheduled matches.

NO RESCHEDULING ALLOWED!


Based on the point totals an individual may be eligible for both Singles and Doubles events. Singles and Doubles matches will be staggered on different days to accommodate play in both.   

All division winners will be invited to the Utah Tennis Association Annual Meeting in January 2007. A "GRAND PRIZE" drawing will be held during the Annual Meeting .  

ADULT TOURNAMENT POINT CHALLENGE REGULATIONS

  1. Eligibility requirements for the Point Challenge:  Age 19 years of age and older, must have a verified NTRP rating.
  2. MUST BE A USTA MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING
  3. Points will be awarded in eight (8) selected USTA/UTA Tennis sanctioned Adult NTRP tournaments offering Singles and Doubles events. Mixed Doubles events will not count.
  4. Points are awarded per entry, per player, per selected 8 tournaments­, per matches won.
  5. Individuals, including a doubles team, accumulate his/her own points.
  6. Participants must play at least  1 match in the tournament to receive points. A player must play in a minimum of three (3) tournaments, in the same NTRP division, to be eligible for the Grand Slam Invitational Tournament. 
  7. A  player enters a tournament and then defaults or withdraws for any reason prior to the 1st round receives NO POINTS.
  8. A player who advances to the next round by default will receive points for the win.
  9. NTRP divisions eligible for the Adult Tournament Point Challenge are:
        W2.5 / MW3.0 / MW3.5 / MW4.0 / MW4.5 / MW5.0
  10. Players who reschedule matches and do not report scores to the Tournament­  Director or to Utah Tennis will receive NO POINTS. Draws must be complete in order to award points to the players.
  11. The winners, in each division of the end of the season “Grand Slam” Invitational will be recognized at the Utah Tennis Association Annual Meeting in January 2007. Each will be entered into a drawing for prizes.
  12. In the event of a tie the following tie-break procedure (in order listed) will be used to determine the top 4 qualifiers for the Grand Slam Invitational.

    a. Win/loss record if Head to Head matches involve tied players
    b. Total number of tournaments won
    c. Total number of matches won/loss
    d. Total number of sets won/loss
    e. Total number of games won/loss

    * If no head to head occurs (b) through (e) would apply. If a tie still occurs a drawing will be held to determine the winner.

  13. Point standings and monthly updates will be posted on the Utah Tennis website.
    PLEASE NOTE: Adult point standings or point totals will not be given over the phone.
  14. Tournament draws in each division will be limited to 64.
  15. ADULT TOURNAMENT POINT CHALLENGE WILL AWARD POINTS FOR (4) UTAH TENNIS GRAND SLAM TOURNAMENTS & (4) ADDITIONAL­ TOURNAMENTS WILL BE DESIGNATED AS GRAND PRIX TOURNAMENTS. (See Adult Tournament Point Challenge Scoring System)
    1. * Points will be awarded in tournaments offering consolation; however, points possible in consolation will be 1/2 of that awarded in the main draw.
