The Utah Tennis Association Junior Gran Prix Point Challenge is an event which allows players to accumulate points throughout the year by entering and playing in USTA/Utah Sanctioned junior tournaments (open division only). Players with the highest point totals in each age division: singles and doubles, boys and girls are recognized at year end with an awards ceremony and party. In addition to age division winners, two juniors (one boy and one girl) with the highest accumulated point totals after all age divisions are combined will be named the "2008 Utah Tennis Junior Tournament Player of the Year."  If a junior plays in more than one division throughout the year, the total points earned from all divisions played in will be added together for that players grand total. 

RULES & REGULATIONS

• Eligibility requirements for Gran Prix points:  Age divisions:  10 through 18
• Points awarded in OPEN singles and doubles events ONLY
• MUST BE A USTA MEMBER IN GOOD STANDING
• Gran Prix points are awarded in Junior USTA/Utah Tennis sanctioned tournaments
• Gran Prix points are awarded per entry, per player, per tournament, per matches won
• Individuals including a doubles team, accumulate his/her own points
• A junior player must participate in a minimum of three (3) tournaments, in the same age division to be eligible for Gran Prix Points
• A player who enters a tournament and then defaults or withdraws for any reason prior to the 1st round receives NO POINTS
• A player who advances to the next round by default will receive points for the win
• Players who reschedule matches and do not report scores to the Tournament Director or to Utah Tennis will receive NO POINTS.  Draws must be complete in order to award points to players
• The top Boy and Girl, when all divisions are combined who have the highest point totals will be named the "2006Utah Tennis Junior Tournament Player of the Year."  Each will receive for their accomplishments merchandise from Head/Penn Racquet Sports and a scholarship from Sajam Sports to attend a Nike Tennis Camp.
• In the event of a tie, the following tie-break procedure (in order listed) will be used:  

    a. Win/loss record if head to head matches involved tied players   
    b.  Total number of tournaments won   
    c.  Total number of matches won/loss    
    d.  Total number of sets won/loss    
    e.  Total number of games won/loss

    If no head to head occurs, line b through e would apply.  If a tie still occurs  
    a drawing will be held to determine the winner 

• Gran Prix Point standings and monthly updates will be posted on our website

Gran Prix Points will be awarded as follows:

• 50 Participation points -  for entering tournament and playing first round match
• 20 Points - each match won in the main draw
• 10 Points - each match won in the consolation draw
• 50 Bonus points - tournament winner

In accordance to USTA Rules & Regulations:  A player shall not enter a tournament (including consolation) knowing the player will be unable to finish.
