WE NEED OFFICIALS! *Do you enjoy Tennis? *Do you have sharp vision and the ability to concentrate? *Are you interested in giving back to tennis some of what it has give you? *Have you considered becoming a tennis official?
We need trained, certified umpires and referees for touraments in our district and across America. Let us know if you are interested by emailing us. We will send you more information and answer any questions you may have about training and certification classes and when they are scheduled.
WHAT DOES AN OFFICIAL DO? While serving as a referee, chair, roving or line umpire, at tennis official makes sure that a tennis match is conducted under the fairest possible conditions. So, ideally, the official is "a friend at court", helpful to the players and the spectators
WHY SHOULD I BE A TENNIS OFFICIAL? Because you: 1) love the game; 2) therefore have a keen interest in seeing that it is played under the best conditions; 3) enjoy having first-hand contact with it whereby you can make a useful contribution to the game, beyond what you may do or have done as a player.
HOW DO I BECOME AN OFFICIAL? To become an official you must: Be a USTA Member in good standing Have eyesight correctable to 20/20 Pass a written test on rules and procedures
WHERE CAN I FIND OFFICIATING OPPORTUNITIES? * Junior and adult tournaments * High school region and state championships * District and sectional events * Collegiate matches * National championships * Satellite Series * Challenger Series * Professional events |
